 Our Statement

We stand in support of racial equity and justice…

Message from READ USA, Inc. June 15, 2020

Black Lives Matter.

We mourn the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and other members of the Black community.

We acknowledge that these recent tragic events are not new trends in our history and not unique to law enforcement.

These events reflect systemic racism.

Communities of color here and across our country have endured violence and disparate treatment for far too long.

We are resolute in our commitment to contribute to real solutions to racial inequality and injustice through education and promotion of a literate society.

We believe literacy is the gateway key to unlocking the power for individuals to transform society.

We encourage current and future students to learn to read, to read to learn, to become involved in research and other educational and service efforts that will challenge racism in our society.

We commit ourselves to learn, to listen, to grow, to evolve, and to be agents for change toward a literate and just society.

We commit ourselves to continue to join efforts with other groups and individuals to seek an end to the violent and disparate treatment of Black people, and all communities of color.

Together, we will make a difference.
